Vacheron Constantin is one of the oldest and most renowned watch manufacturers in the world, as well as the oldest in continuous production since its foundation. The House was founded on September 17, 1755 in the Saint-Gervais district of Geneva by watchmaker Jean-Baptiste-Marc Vacheron (1731-1805). Initially, the watchmaking atelier was composed of Jean-Marc and an apprentice. In 1785, the founder's sons, Louis André and Abraham Vacheron, took over the management of the company. The watchmaking dynasty of his son Louis André ended in the early 1830s, and the management of the company passed into the hands of Abraham, the sole heir. During the years of his administration, the House passed in 1810 to his son Jacques Barthélémi (grandson of the founder). With Jacques Barthélémi, the production of more complicated pieces began.
