Important "Parfum des Fleurs" Mantel Clock with Sculpture by Auguste Moreau Magnificent antique Art Nouveau/Belle Époque style mantel clock (late 19th - early 20th century), featuring an imposing allegorical sculpture entitled "Parfum des Fleurs", by the renowned French sculptor Auguste Moreau (1834-1917). Main Features: * Subject: The clock is surmounted by a standing winged female figure, elegantly draped, representing a Nymph or Fairy (Flora/Spring), holding a flowering branch in her hand. The subject, as indicated on the cartouche, is "PARFUM des FLEURS par Aug. Moreau (Méd. d’Or)" (Gold Medal). * Materials and Composition: * The sculpture is made of patinated antimony, with a rich golden bronze patina that enhances the details. * The clock case is a plinth base in black marble, resting on elegant Louis XV style gilded bronze volute feet, adding a touch of great refinement. * The clock face is framed by a bezel and floral enamel decorations in the center. * Artist Details: Auguste Moreau, a member of the celebrated Moreau family of sculptors, is known for his allegorical and graceful figures, typical of the Belle Époque taste. The mention "Méd. d’Or" (Gold Medal) on the cartouche indicates the success and recognition of the artist's work during his lifetime, often during the exhibitions of the Paris Salon. * Style and Details: The work combines the neoclassical harmony of the female figure with the dynamism and floral grace typical of Art Nouveau. The wings, the flowing robe, and the flower motif are all distinctive elements of his art. The base of the sculpture features the sculptor's signature. Conditions: * The patinated antimony sculpture is in excellent antique condition, with a splendid original patina. * The marble/ebonite case and gold feet are well preserved. * The clock (the mechanism) is present. The operational status needs to be checked/overhauled. Dimensions: 41 x 25 height 75 cm. A regular certificate of authenticity with photos is issued.
