Elegant majolica parade plate, large in size (37 cm diameter), made in central Italy – probably between Umbria and Marche – between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Entirely hand-painted with great skill, it features a rich grotesque decoration of Renaissance inspiration, with fantastic motifs, winged figures, imaginary animals, floral elements and ornamental triumphs arranged in perfect symmetry. At the center stands a heraldic shield divided into two fields: in the upper part a black eagle on a gold field, a symbol of imperial nobility, while below a male bust and a wheel, perhaps alluding to a family business. Above the shield is a crowned and feathered helmet, typical of the heraldic tradition. The frame is finely bordered with a continuous decorative frieze in blue and yellow, of strong visual impact. The back has two opposing holes originally made for wall use. Original craquelé glaze, without visible restorations, authentic antique patina. Diameter: cm 37General conditions very good, slight signs of age. For more information or additional images, please do not hesitate to contact us. Worldwide shipping available.
