Academic studies of male nude – Neoclassical school, first half of the 19th century
Period: First half of the nineteenth century
Origin: Milanese residence
Technique: Pencil on paper
Dimensions: 54 × 70 cm, 70 × 80 cm, 76 × 66 cm, 76 × 66 cm
Description: Refined collection of four academic studies of male nude, made with pencil on paper in the first half of the 19th century, attributable to the neoclassical and academic Italian environment. The drawings, executed with great mastery of stroke and anatomical rigor, testify to the artistic practice of the time, aimed at the perfection of the human body as an ideal of beauty and harmony. Each figure is portrayed in a plastic and dynamic pose, with a volumetric rendering that highlights the study of light and proportions. The subjects recall Michelangelo and Canova models.
The works are in excellent condition. The irregular edges of the sheets, deliberately left in sight, add authenticity and charm to the whole.
