Madonna and Child
Preparatory study for the realization of oil on canvas of the same size today owned by the Carrara Academy of Bergamo. The study presented here is a drawing of cm.71x54 executed in charcoal, pencils, shading and highlighting in white lead on cardboard; the latter is placed on a second thicker blue paper with pen notes by the painter, which by virtue of its larger dimensions also acts as a passpartout. The work can be dated around 1860, and is inserted in a beautiful coeval frame, decorated with decorations in golden pastille on the corners and white lacquer on the sides. The composition & egr
