PAIR OF OIL PAINTINGS ON TABLE REQUIRING SHEEP AND GOAT WITHIN LANDSCAPES. PERIOD END OF 1600, CAN BE PLACED AROUND THE CIRCLE OF PHILIPP PETER ROSS, called ROSA DA TIVOLI (Frankfurt am Main, 1655 ca. - Tivoli, 1706). MEASUREMENTS CM.21.5X17.5 - WITH FRAME CM.35X30.5 Philipp Peter Ross was a German painter, son and pupil of Johann Heinrich, an artist well known in representing animals, from whom he inherited the taste for landscape painting. In 1677 he arrived in Rome; here he was a pupil of Giacinto Brandi, of whom he married his daughter. A few years later the painter moved to Tivoli - hence the nickname - where he bought a house in which he lived with his family.
