Battle, Jacques Courtois, oil painting on canvas.
Jacques Courtois or Giacomo Cortesi, known as il Borgognone (Saint-Hyppolite 1621 – Rome 1676)
Splendid oil painting on canvas attributed to Jacques Courtois, known as il Borgognone, a 17th-century master famous for his battle scenes. In the centre of the composition emerges a knight enveloped in a red cloak, galloping while wielding a long pole. Around him develops a frenetic clash between armed knights, rendered with great energy and dynamism.
The painting is accompanied by vintage photographs with a certificate from the "Il Nettuno" Gallery of Bologna, citing Prof. Giuliano Briganti for the attribution to Jacques Courtois.
