Marzio Masturzo (Active in Naples and Rome in the second half of the 17th century) Oil painting on canvas depicting a clash of knights near a fortress Measurements: 93 x 129 cm with coeval frame: 117 x 153cm Masturzo belongs to the seventeenth-century group of "battalists "Neapolitans. Pupil and friend of Salvator Rosa, he opens up more to the Baroque than the teacher. His realistic battles, even if inspired by the Rose, reveal themselves to be very in tune with the Burgundian while demonstrating their own personality. Important battles of great pictorial level by Masturzo can be found in the National Gallery of Rome. The painting is in excellent condition and is related to the pear trees
