Lombard painter of the 17th centuryPortrait of a knight in armor Oil on canvas 81 x 70 cm / Framed 93 x 82 A fascinating gentleman in his armor, immortalized in an authoritative and proud pose, is the subject of our valuable portrait, of good quality and made by an author belonging to the Northern Italian, presumably Lombard, culture of the mid-seventeenth century. Although his role as a knight is emphasized, his pose is regal, a three-quarter portrait, surmounted by a plumed helmet, while he wields the typical field marshal's baton, the quintessential ceremonial symbol of command, worn as part of the uniform by soldiers with the highest rank in the hierarchy. The pictorial quality of the painting is not alien to Spanish-inspired suggestions, understandable given that for most of the 16th and 17th centuries the Lombard area was governed by the Spanish government. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The work is sold complete with a gilded wooden frame and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a descriptive iconographic sheet. We handle and organize the transport of purchased works, both for Italy and abroad, through professional and insured carriers. It is also possible to see the painting in the gallery in Riva del Garda, we will be happy to welcome you to show you our collection of works.
