“MADONNA AND BABY JESUS” 17th century Emilian school, follower of Correggio.
Measurements: panel 52x49 cm with non coeval frame 66x55 cm. The choice of colors, the drawing of the face of the Madonna, the grace of the child and the execution of the head of Jesus with the well-drawn curls with a golden sign, leads us to evaluate that this painting is by the hand of an artist who has Correggio studied and imitated. Oil painting on poplar panel, examined under a black lamp, it presents some restorations carried out in depth, which penalized the painting. Cleaning and adequate restoration by more expert hands would make the work more legible and increase its value.
