This delicate depiction of a young Virgin in Prayer excellently reflects the refined taste of the Emilian school of the 17th century.
Painted in oil on a single-panel poplar wood panel, it is in very good condition without restorations or repainting.
It is a very pleasant and charming work painted by an artist from the Emilian area and represents the prototype of one of the most typical iconographies of the "Praying Virgin" or "Virgin in Prayer".
It is the beautiful image that we also find in the versions of the "Virgin in adoration of the child" and the "Virgin with the Sleeping Child" made famous by the works of Guido Reni and Sassoferrato, to whom an old attribution is given on the back of the panel.
The work is in excellent condition.
