Gaetano Grezler (active in Veneto in the second half of the 18th century) - Interior scene with figures
An official meeting, probably of a religious or ceremonial nature, with the presence of a prelate in white robes surrounded by dignitaries, notables, and family members, in a richly wood-paneled environment. In the center, a reclining dog introduces a note of everyday life.
The canvas testifies to Grezler's ability to combine the realistic description of the figures with a scenographic taste of Venetian origin, close to the genre painting of Pietro Longhi and Gaspare Diziani, but with a more choral and narrative tone.

Notes:
Grezler's works, rare on the market, are appreciated for their documentary value on the social and private life of 18th-century Veneto. This canvas, for its compositional breadth and variety of figures, represents a significant example of his production intended for aristocratic or upper-middle-class commissions.
