Francesco Tironi (Venice 1745 - Venice 1797) was a Venetian painter and engraver known for being one of the last vedutisti active during the 18th century. Information about him is relatively scarce, but Tironi is recognized and appreciated by collectors for his significant contribution to the Venetian veduta of the eighteenth century. His style echoes the lesson of Francesco Guardi, with the use of a contrasting color palette that alternates brown tones with strokes of light, all to create a more atmospheric than calligraphic effect in his paintings. This pair of large landscapes represents a rare example in which the painter did not try his hand at painting Venice, but rather at representing the Venetian countryside.
