Nocturne with livestock and scenes of rural life
Large oil painting on canvas depicting a rural landscape illuminated by soft moonlight.
In the foreground, herds of grazing animals are portrayed with great skill and naturalistic attention. On the right side, some figures are captured in daily activities, perhaps related to milk processing or other typical rural trades.
The natural postures and composure of the figures recall the painting of the 17th-18th century.
The subject, the painting technique, and the use of light refer to the style of important artists such as Domenico Brandi (1684-1736) or Peter Roos (1655-1706), known for their representation of nocturnal and rural scenes with evocative chiaroscuro.
Very good state of preservation, original frame of the period with minor damages, gilding patinated by natural wear.
