Rare glass painting from the Venetian area of the Rococo period. The woman, portrayed in three-quarter view, has her gaze turned sideways. She is dressed in draped garments with vivid colors, a neckline, wide sleeves, and a turban. The body is painted with softness but also with a certain expressive intensity, typical of Venetian late Baroque portraits. The details of the hands and face are finely executed, the shadows on the arm and chest are delicately applied, integrating into the color of the skin, a sign that the painter possessed considerable technical skills. The female subject, idealized but realistic, could also fall within the representation of allegorical virtues or personifications. The image is painted from the back of the glass (verre églomisé or "reverse glass painting"), a very refined technique that requires absolute precision, as the lights, details, and layers must be applied in reverse compared to traditional painting. This type of work was often intended for the decorative furnishings of Venetian and Austrian aristocratic homes. Reverse glass paintings were particularly appreciated in the 18th century for their shine and color resistance thanks to the protection of the glass. The painting is enhanced by a splendid Venetian frame in gilded wood and decorated with rich Rocaille carvings culminating in an openwork crest from the Rococo period. A painting of great decorative and collector's interest, belonging to a refined tradition that is now uncommon on the market. Overall dimensions cm 46x31.2 Glass cm 25.5x20
