A small sketch from 18th-century Bologna, executed spontaneously but in a very effective manner.It is a jewel of rare beauty and depicts a very sweet image of the Virgin and Child.
An old inscription associates it with the works of Carlo Cignani (Bologna 1628 - Forlì 1719).
It is painted on a round wooden panel, inserted in a magnificent contemporary Bolognese frame, richly carved and gilded.
The overall effect of the work is truly remarkable and has a great impact on the wall.
Its condition is excellent (the restoration was limited to restoring the gilding and minor imperfections of the frame).
