"Madonna of embroidery"
Bolognese school late 17th and early 18th century. Oil painting on cleaned and re-coated canvas. There are some non-penalizing restorations. Measurements: 32x38 cm canvas with not coeval carved and gilded frame 45x60 cm. This painting, where St. Joseph is not present as the main variant, takes up the work of the "Madonna of the embroidery" an oil painting on wood from the end of the 16th century donated by Margherita Tomei to the mercy of Borgo a Mozzano. It is a very particular and unusual subject among the depictions of "Madonna operosa". Among the similar known works there is a fresco from the mid-fourteenth century, found in a crumbling oratory of an Emilian villa
