Jacob Petit Manufacture 1850- 1920 Pair of Porcelain Tureens, diameter 23 cm, height 18 cm These tureens are produced by the manufacture of the well-known Parisian ceramist Jacob Petit (Paris 1796-1868). Jacob Petit after learning drawing as a self-taught student enters the studio of the painter Antoine Jaen Gros, a disciple of Jacques – Louis David, but soon attracted to porcelain decides to join the Manufacture de Sèvres in 1822. Passionate about decorative arts, he makes several trips to France and Europe (in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and England) to deepen his knowledge and perfect his technique. Back in France, he published a Collection of decoration in 1830-1831
