In 1890 Gustav Schäfer and Guenther Vater founded a porcelain factory in Germany (Thuringia) characterized by the refinement of models, also intended for export, and pursuing a production line of caricatured figures and heads. The particularity and rarity of this biscuit head, dating back to 1920ca. it is the presence at the top of the holes where to place and keep the matches at hand. Another design peculiarity was the idea of the lit cigarette resting on the cavity that then lets the smoke escape from the holes in the head. An ashtray head that is also a smoking head with a strong mimic expression. Height approx 8.5cm. Excellent state of conservation
