Description
The vase has an inverted ovoid shape, finely painted with a Napoleonic battle scene. The lids are enriched with a raised golden "N" and a crown, flanked by oak and laurel branches with berries. The neck features an eagle with outstretched wings; the flared base is decorated with golden designs and the date of the 1807 battle resting on a recessed gilt bronze structure.
The date 1807 represents the Battle of Friedland. Held on June 14, 1807, it sanctioned Napoleon's victory over Russia and led to the Treaty of Tilsit with Alexander I.
