Aneroid barograph signed RF Richard Frères Paris, SGDG patented n. 70802, from the end of the 19th century. In 1876, Jules Richard took over his father's manufacturing business in Paris. In 1882 he joined his younger brother Max, who took the name of Richard Frères. Although the company was dissolved in 1891, the "RF" monogram was retained as a symbol of the company. In the late 1800s, Richard shifted his interests to photography and photographic tools.
