Putti candle holders
(2) Wood, Height 48 cm
A pair of finely carved dark walnut wood putti: they hold heraldic coats of arms centered by a rampant lion and rest on a rocky base. With fluid movements, they hold a basket above their heads that serves as a base for the candle. The specular and serpentine pose, with the lower limbs bent to support the coat of arms, denotes a deep sense of knowledge of statuary and the achievement of a real and truthful naturalism.
