Marble bust of Ceres, Roman goddess of earth and fertility. White marble sculpture from the 17th century.
Depicted as a beautiful young woman with long hair gathered at the nape of her neck and falling over her shoulder. Her hairstyle is adorned with flowers and ears of wheat.
Dimensions: 45 cm (height with base) x 25 x 12.5 (base diameter).
Ceres, the mother goddess of earth, fertility, and prosperity, is also the goddess of birth (as all flowers, fruit, and living beings were considered her gifts). She is considered a symbol of summer, the quintessential season of harvests.
