Diana the Huntress and a Handmaid tempted by Satyrs disguised as innocent Putti, terracotta sculpture, Paris, 19th century. Measurements: 44x43x31cm. This particularly beautiful and refined allegorical scene in terracotta is set on its original gilded wooden base. Diana the Huntress and a Handmaid are depicted playing attentively with three cheerful Putti... but the thick hair on the legs of the putto in the foreground reveals his true nature... he is a Faun! The sculpture can therefore be interpreted as an allegory of chastity and lust, playing with each other and trying to overpower each other, even through deception. The sculpture is signed Charles Joseph Lenoir, Paris 1844- Rennes 1899. If the work is purchased by non-Italian customers, a certificate of free circulation will be required, which can be obtained in 10/20 working days. The gallery will take care of the bureaucratic and economic aspects. All costs are therefore included in the price. The work, like all our other objects, is sold with certificates of authenticity and lawful origin. We personally take care of and organize the packing and shipping of artworks with insurance worldwide.
