Description: Antique patinated bronze sculpture signed "Louis Moreau" resting on a red Levanto marble base.
The sculpture depicts the Nymphe de Bois and is a fascinating representation of the mythical forest nymph of ancient legend, created by Louis Moreau, one of the extraordinary members of the Moreau family who dominated the world of sculpture in the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century in Paris.
The young woman is depicted in a joyful attitude as she is enveloped by plant and volatile elements and rests on a base also with plant elements.
The character, with a drape around her hips in a sensual and contemplative pose, has a slender and well-modeled body with anatomical care and naturalism in the details.
