Brother of the painter Ruggero Focardi, he studied in Florence under the guidance of Enrico Pozzi and adheres to the realist demands disclosed by Adriano Cecioni.
In 1875 he moved to London where he exhibited until 1888.
Author of genre statuettes and portraits, he exhibited in 1878 in Paris.
The bronze "sweet Rest" of 1887 is preserved in the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome
