The refined pair of busts depicts a man and a woman dressed according to the fashion of mid-18th century France. The graceful young woman has her hair styled according to the taste that spread at the court of King Louis XV. She wears a simple dress that rests on her neckline. The man wears his hair tied in a ponytail with a ribbon. He wears an open jacket that showcases a rich Rococo-style shirt.
The busts bear the signature "Augustin Pajou Paris" and are dated 1725 and 1745.
