Pair of gilded wooden winged cherubs – 18th/19th century
Pair of gilded wooden winged cherubs – 18th/19th century
Elegant pair of wooden carvings depicting faces of cherubs surrounded by rich, spread wings.
The sculptures, made of carved wood and finely gilded with gold leaf, show a gentle expression and detailed features in the lines of the face, the curls, and the feathery rendering of the wings.
The generous dimensions make these elements ideal as over-door decorations, ornaments for altars, monumental frames or as important stand-alone decorative elements.
The original gilding retains a beautiful antique patina; light wear compatible with age is visible, contributing to the authentic charm of the piece.
Work of Italian school (probably central-northern area), datable between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century.
Perfect for collectors, decorators and lovers of baroque sacred art.
There are 5 winged heads available, which can be sold in 2 pairs and one individually.
Measurements: cm. 52.5/57.5 x 29/25 - thickness cm. 7
