Three Graces - 19th century
XIX century Tre Grazie Alabaster, cm alt. 18.5 At the beginning of the nineteenth century with the artistic movement of Neoclassicism there was a re-evaluation of the classical Greek-Roman world, a rediscovery of forms but also of contents and themes that Greek civilization had its ideal, then expanding its repertoire to following of the archaeological discoveries and of a vast diffusion of the ancient, also of the Roman, Etruscan and Egyptian art. The elegant subject of this sculpture depicting the Three Graces refers to a theme treated by the most important exponents of neoclassical sculpture such as Antonio Canova and Bertel Thorvaldsen.
