Pigeons on the night (1955)
Pigeons on the night is the title of the painting on the back of the canvas (see detail photo 2), written by Sirius Livorno Angelo Pellegrini (1908-97). The picture shows the strong tonal sensitivity that characterizes the work of ASPellegrini, first gained in the post-Macchiaioli with Raphael Gambogi, and then further developed in attendance Ottone Rosai, of which he was a student 1937-40; the long-standing relationship with Roses deeply marked the poetry of this artist, made up of situations and the most common subjects such as the one shown in the picture shown here, which transposes its original, as intimate emotional vein of poetry. The painting is signed lower left and titled and dated by the artist on the back. Oil on canvas cm. 46 x 66 in excellent condition, framed ivory.
