the Pony foot down. Mixed media (ink pen, brush and watercolor on beige paper); signature in the lower right, dated 1961. Planted on the legs and wide-eyed, pony foot down and turns his throbbing physicality in emotional tension, remaining motionless in front of the vision of the equine skull that appears on the left. The tension of the animal is represented by a sign nervous and incisive, while the volumes are made from plastic deep contours, showing that the artist thinks first and foremost as a sculptor. Elijah Ajolfi (1916-2001), Bergamo formed first in the workshop of his father Francesco (with Giacomo Manzu) at the Academy of Florence, is one of the great sculptors of bronze and iron '900, but also in clay and materials innovations such as polystyrene; his animalistic cycle, which began from the late '50s, he combined a sort of preview designs feature a sleek, tactile sophistication plastic. Measurements cm. 100 x 72.5. Frame in wooden strip.
