The painter wanted to represent a rural landscape in an idyllic atmosphere, with sheep grazing.
I don't know why the painter (Giovanni Marelli, Italian painter and poet of the twentieth century) painted the peasants as being black in this painting. Upon request, I can have the color of the complexion modified.
