Léon Laurent Galand was born in Montpellier in France in 1872 and died in 1960.

During his career he exhibited regularly in Paris in the Salon des Artistes Français , many are the awards

and medals including a gold one in the early twentieth century. Many works of the painter are kept in the museum of Montpellier.

The sea paintings category to which the oil painting belongs carries an original carved and lacquered wooden frame from the 1900s.
