ANTIQUE FLOWER PAINTINGS, STILL LIFE WITH VASE OF WHITE CARNATIONS, OIL ON CANVAS, EARLY 20TH CENTURY. (QF691)
(QF691)
The Antique Flower Paintings category offers a beautiful Oil Painting On Canvas, a floral still life from the early twentieth century.
This is a pleasant still life, depicting a bouquet, a bunch of flowers of Carnations or small white Peonies
in a transparent glass vase. Next to the vase of White Carnations is a closed book, slightly tilted,
which adds an intimate and domestic tone to the scene. From the background, clear light filters through a curtain, creating soft shadows
and reflections on the table and in the glass of the vase.
The painting on canvas is signed in the lower right F. Guillermin, a French painter known for his portraits and flower paintings.
Francisque Guillermin (1878–1947) was born in Montrevel (Isère), collaborated with the famous portrait painter François Guiguet, from whom he learned
much about pictorial technical precision. He then works in Valence with a decorator. He exhibited in Paris and at the Salon des Artistes Français,
and became a member. He decorated the ceiling of the Brasserie Georges in Lyon, an iconic and still active venue.
In 1937 he received the Prix de la Société Lyonnaise des Beaux-Arts
The painting is dressed with an original carved wooden frame that is contemporary with the work.
The oil painting and frame have been carefully and professionally restored.
