Pair of sculptures depicting greyhounds, probably whippet breed, life-size and of excellent workmanship, made of bronze with lost-wax casting and dating back to the early 20th century, inspired by the design and subjects typically preferred in the Art Deco period thanks to the vocation of this style for animalier taste.
Sculptures like these are often used as highly decorative elements for interiors, gardens or terraces.
In this case, the artist has captured with great skill the elegance of the two creatures, a male and a female, particularly fascinating for their realistic attention, and endowed with a remarkable sense of plasticity with the use of an extraordinarily modern design line.
The works, of French manufacture, are inspired by the famous creations of the sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti (Milan 1884 - Paris 1916), from Milan transplanted to Paris and Antwerp, or Pierre-Jules Mêne, both famous sculptors specializing in bronze animals.
