In primo piano è Il Cristo morto, esanime e mollemente adagiato sulle ginocchia di Maria, sorretto e adorato da una donna che, inginocchiata sul lato sinistro dalla composizione, ne sfiora la mano con il viso, e da due Angeli tristi e adoranti su quello destro.

La figura di Maria, con il capo contornato da una lucente aureola, guarda verso lo spettatore, con un’espressione carica di commozione e fatale inconsolabilità.

Particolarmente intenso nella resa dei sentimenti che contraddistinguono tutte le figure rappresentate, il dipinto si presenta in buono stato di conservazione.

Esso è incorniciato da un tempietto veneto del XVI° secolo con colonne a tutto tondo, vari movimenti d’intaglio, e chiuso, nella parte superiore, da due cornucopie contrapposte.

Compassion. oil painting on copper, Northern Italy, 17th century

In the foreground is the dead Christ, lifeless and limply lying on Mary's knees, supported and adored by a woman who, kneeling on the left side of the composition, touches his hand with her face, and by two sad and adoring angels on the right .

The figure of Mary, with her head surrounded by a shining halo, looks towards the viewer, with an expression full of emotion and fatal inconsolability.

Particularly intense in the rendering of the feelings that distinguish all the figures represented, the painting is in a good state of conservation.

It is framed by a small Venetian temple from the 16th century with columns in the round, various carving movements, and closed, in the upper part, by two opposing cornucopias.

Au premier plan se trouve le Christ mort, sans vie et mollement couché sur les genoux de Marie, soutenu et adoré par une femme qui, agenouillée sur le côté gauche de la composition, touche sa main avec son visage, et par deux anges tristes et adorateurs sur la droite .

La figure de Marie, la tête entourée d'un halo brillant, regarde vers le spectateur, avec une expression pleine d'émotion et d'inconsolation fatale.

Particulièrement intense dans le rendu des sentiments qui distinguent toutes les figures représentées, le tableau est dans un bon état de conservation.

Il est encadré par un petit temple vénitien du XVIe siècle à colonnes en ronde-bosse, divers mouvements de sculpture, et fermé, dans la partie supérieure, par deux cornes d'abondance opposées.
