La  caccia con l’utilizzo del falco era molto in voga all’epoca ed era largamente praticata in tutta Europa ed anche in Medio Oriente. Essa implicava la presenza del falconiere, figura di grande importanza presso le corti nobili, che aveva la responsabilità di addestrare e governare i rapaci. Nel dipinto qui presentato emerge il ritratto di un uomo a cavallo, finemente agghindato e con cappello piumato, che regge con la mano guantata un volatile, presumibilmente un falco. Altre figure e cani completano la scena, posta nel primo piano di un paesaggio composto da rigogliosa vegetazione con profilo di castello sullo sfondo.

L’ opera è da attribuirsi ad un importante artista nordico del ‘ 600, come anche indica il supporto in legno di quercia tipico dell’area fiamminga

FALCON HUNTING

Hunting with the use of the falcon was very popular at the time and was widely practiced throughout Europe and also in the Middle East. It implied the presence of the falconer, a figure of great importance among the noble courts, who had the responsibility of training and governing the raptors. In the painting presented here emerges the portrait of a man on horseback, finely add and with a feathered hat, holding a bird, presumably a hawk, with his gloved hand. Other figures and dogs complete the scene, placed in the foreground of a landscape composed of lush vegetation with a castle profile in the background.

The work ccould be attributed to an important Nordic artist of the XVII century as also indicated by the oak wood support typical of the Flemish area.
