Exemplary of extreme finesse of execution, unique piece: collector's item. Probably never used on the floor, but hung as a decoration. It dates back to the Shah Pahlavi period. The Sarugh is still a sturdy rug that can be set anywhere. This has a very dense floral design with red (obtained from madder) on a midnight blue background to bring out the design.
