Niccolò Frangipane (News from 1563-1597) Baccanale Oil on wood, 61 x 121.5 cm (with frame), 44.5 x 105 cm (without frame) From the typological and stylistic point of view, this beautiful painting is undoubtedly to be assigned to Nicolò Frangipane, a painter whose place and date of birth are unknown, but who has been active and resident in Venice since 1563, the year in which a contract for the execution of an altarpiece for the church of Sant'Eufemia a Mazzorbo. In 1564 Niccolò was included in the Fraglia of painters of the lagoon city, while his last certain work, the Autumn today in the Civic Museum of Udine, is dated 1597.
