Study on the theme of the herd, a subject to which Quarti worked repeatedly in the first half of the 1930s; in the bibliography (*) two paintings from 1930 and 1932 are known under the title “Bufali”, while paintings with the same title were presented by him in exhibitions of 1930, 1932, 1937. The work presented here is probably the first idea for the 1932 painting “Bufali”, of which we enclose the image. Mixed technique with black charcoals and colored touches on a gouache-treated background, on cardboard cm. 71.5 x 87.5, signature on the lower right.
