"Maria Maddalena" Tuscany, first half of the 1600s Oil on canvas Canvas measurements 84 x 62 frame 90 x 68 The work is still on the first canvas and in good condition. 17th century painting depicting a very attractive Magdalene who, while showing the iconographic attributes of her repentance, expresses an irrepressible femininity. The splendid features, with wide open eyes and loose hair as well as the pose that seems to offer one's body, are the image of seduction. The message of the female who leads into temptation is evident, as are the references to penance of the skull and the crucifix.
