Lino Baccarini (1893-1973)

This portrait of a child still has an affinity with Cesare Tallone, who was the artist's master in Brera, and is part of a series of portraits dating back to the same years, with recurring shadowy backgrounds from which the dimly lit faces take shape.

Excellent state of conservation.

Signed lower right, dated 1928 oil painting on tablet.

Mis. 55X65cm with frame.

Born in Gonzaga (Mantua) on 6 December 1893, he lives in Milan. Student of the Brera Academy in Milan, under the guidance of Cesare Tallone. Her first painting was exhibited at the Brera Biennale in 1918. She participated in major Italian exhibitions such as the Brera Biennials, Amatori and Cultori in Rome, the Naples Biennials and at the Paris Salon in 1928. At the Female Portrait Exhibition in Monza in 1924, he participated with the works: "Portraits of the Li Greci ladies"; "Salvioni"; "Maltecca". The painting "My father" exhibited at the Artistic Family was awarded the gold medal of the Alciati prize. He left the Academy with the Hayez pension and the Bozzi Caimi prize and was later awarded a prize in the contest for the Oggioni pension. He painted the portrait of "Gilda Della Rizza", by prof. "Emilio Alfieri", Mrs. "Bianca Stacchini", the countess "Anna Visconti di Modrone in Gazan costume" and other personalities. His painting is modern without, however, excessive deviations from traditional canons; in the portrait, on the other hand, having the pre-established subject, he does not always succeed in fully affirming his own temperament. In 1930 he successfully held a solo show in Buenos Aires. Subsequently he exhibited at the Venice Biennale and personal exhibitions in Milan (Pesaro Gallery, Dedalo, Modern Art Gallery).

He died in Milan in 1973.
